Change
“It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power.” _ Alan Chen_
Change always requires us to let go of what we know before we can have the new. In fact, often we have to let go in order to grow into the new; it does not always come immediately. One thing is sure: We cannot keep doing the same things and expect different results; we need to let the process of change accelerate us into a new season of breakthrough.
“I will look on you with favor and make you fruitful and increase your numbers and I will keep my covenant with you. You will still be eating last year’s harvest when you will have to move it out to make room for the new.” Leviticus 26
God touches even the good harvest in our lives and asks us to move it out of the central position it occupies to make room for the new. In practice, this means that when the season of change is upon us, sometimes we have to let go of the good experiences we’ve had, alter close relationships and form new ones, change the way we do things and even end activities that have been useful until now.
In spiritual terms, sadly it is often those at the forefront of the last move of God who are the first to oppose the next move of God. This goes against God’s character, as He is always doing something new. The bottom line is, we must always stay flexible. God is not sentimental and often the things that are very important to us do not seem to be so critical to Him. We must let God build His Church and also make any alterations He desires!
Life always brings change! God made it that way. He is living active and moving. The only things that do not change or move are dead things. Leviticus 26 challenges us to keep moving, to keep putting aside the old and embracing the new, to not get stuck in one season.
