The Gift of Time
The Gift of Time
"Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom." Psalm 90:12
You cannot attend the meeting, fellowship, or even an online bible study because you are too busy and do not have time. You did not return the call because you did not have time. You are not able to eat because you have a lot of work to do and you do not have time. . Do you really have no time or do you just have different priorities so you do not give time to things you did not do?
Remember this, you always have time. Each of us has the same amount of time. We all have twenty-four hours. No more no less. How many things are you doing now that is no longer urgent and not yet important?
My friend, you should not be wasting precious and limited time on tasks
that are neither urgent nor important. You will only waste of time. Many are distracted by social media.
When your gadget sounds, there is a sense of urgency that you need to read
what's on your newsfeed and you need to respond immediately to every message
you receive.
But is it really necessary? Is it urgent and important? Have you counted each day as a precious gift from God?; have you spent each day in the presence of the Lord?; have you used each day to the glory of God; have you invested time in your loved ones?
Building relationships with your family and colleagues are seldom urgent. But if you neglect them and do not give them the time of day they deserve, it will surely be a big problem in the future. Yes, we have to work and be fruitful. But never be too busy to spend time with family and friends. Never be too busy to help others. Never be too busy to enjoy life. Time is short to use it wisely.
Never be too busy to help. Sometimes
in the middle of your work, someone suddenly talks to you and asks for advice.
Realize that it takes courage and a lot of trusts for people to open up and ask
for advice. Take even a short time to help those in need. This is not a
distraction, but rather, an opportunity to be a blessing.
Never be too busy to spend time with God. If you are too busy with your work and other things that you do not have time for God, I am sure, you are too busy with non-essentials. When we seek God first, He will guide us and help us determine our priorities. When we spend time with God, He will remind us of what we should prioritize and devote time to. Psalm 46:10 reminds us, "Be still and know that I am God."
Focus on tasks and activities that are urgent and important and not urgent but important. Successful individuals know how to effectively and wisely use their time. Honor God by being a good steward of the time that He has entrusted in your hands.
Believe it or not, time is one of the most precious commodities that we have. Time is much more valuable than money can ever be. How you spend your time is more important than how you spend your money. Time is a gift, a precious gift from the Lord. Our days and opportunities to live for the Lord pass so rapidly that we cannot afford to waste time.
God's Word advises us to
use our time wisely because He knows that there are many things in life that
can distract us from what truly matters. Do not waste your time so that you
don't look back with regret - you do not know what tomorrow holds! Using
time wisely involves doing what matters most. May the Lord help us to realize
that life is best measured not in length, but in-depth. When we number our days,
we will strive to fill each one with value, living every moment for God’s
purposes and glory.
Those with a heart of wisdom know that what is important
is a life in which God has been served and His name has been praised.
